Frequently asked questions

Does PithyFeed send my reading activity to any server?

No. PithyFeed has no back-end. All article content, read state, summaries, and preferences stay on your Mac. AI summaries are generated on-device by Apple Intelligence. See the Privacy Policy for details.

Can I import my existing feeds from another reader?

Yes — PithyFeed supports OPML import. Export an OPML file from your current reader (NetNewsWire, Reeder, Feedly, etc.), then open it in PithyFeed from File → Import OPML.

Does iCloud sync use my iCloud storage quota?

Yes, but the footprint is tiny — typically well under 10 MB for a normal feed library, because PithyFeed syncs feed subscriptions and read/starred state, not the full article text. iCloud sync is off by default; you can toggle it in Settings → Advanced.

How do I request a refund?

Refunds for Mac App Store purchases are handled by Apple. Visit reportaproblem.apple.com, sign in with your Apple ID, find the PithyFeed purchase, and click Request a refund. Apple reviews each request individually.

A feed isn't working — what should I do?

Check the feed URL in a browser first; many feed outages originate with the publisher. If the feed loads in a browser but not in PithyFeed, email us the URL and we'll look at it.

Can I use PithyFeed without Apple Intelligence?

Yes. You can turn off AI summaries and use PithyFeed as a standard RSS reader, or enable the optional offline fallback model which runs a local Llama model on your Mac. Summaries will look different from Apple Intelligence output but work without macOS 26's built-in models.

How do I report a bug or suggest a feature?

Email support@pithyfeed.news. Include your macOS version, PithyFeed version (found in PithyFeed → About), and a description of what happened.
